2008 - January - Installation Ceremonies of Chief James T Swanick

            Tim Swanick is the 87th Fire Chief of the Rockaway Borough

            Borough Fire Department.  He was sworn into office on January 1,

            2008, for his second non-consecutive term as Fire Chief.

2007 - August - Rockaway Borough FD & Dover FD Pig Roast

            On a hot August day, the Rockaway Borough Fire Department and the

            Dover Fire Department held their 2nd Annual Pig Roast.

2007 - May - Mutual Aid to Second Half in Denville

           The Denville Fire Department was dispatched to the Second Half Bar

           at 340 Route 53 for the report of a bush on fire in front of the building.

           The Rockaway Borough Fire Department was call as a F.A.S.T team,

           but was quickly put to work upon arrival at the scene.

2007 - April - Pine Street Commons Fire

           The Rockaway Borough Fire Department, under Chief Joseph

           Giordano, was dispatched to a heavy smoke condition in the area of

          Pine Street and Stickle Avenue.  Mutual Aid was requested from

          Denville, Dover, Rockaway Township and Picatinny Arsenal.

2007 - January - A.J. Stanke Spaghetti Dinner

           On January 18th, the Rockaway Borough Fire Department, Board of

           Education, almost the entire town of Rockaway and neighboring Fire

           Departments came out to support A.J. Stanke.

            Joseph Giordano is the 86th Fire Chief of the Rockaway Borough

            Borough Fire Department.  He was sworn into office on January 1,

            2007, for his fourth non-consecutive term as Fire Chief.

2006 - September - Labor Day Parade

           The Labor Day Parade in Boonton New Jersey.  Originally scheduled

           for Saturday Sept. 2nd, was postponed to Monday Sept 4th, resulting

           in a 40% overall loss in Fire Department Attendance.  (Chief Carolan)

2006 - September - Labor Day Parade (VIDEO)

2006 - July - Family Festival

           The Rockaway Borough Fire Department holds an annual fundraiser

           in the form of a carnival.  The festival is manned by the volunteer fire-

2006 - January - New Year's Day Installation

           Installation Ceremonies at the Rockaway Borough Fire Department

2005 - December - FAST Team call to Dover

           An attic fire was reported to the Dover Fire Dept around 11am.

           Upon arrival, firefighters made an interior attack against the fire which

           was located on the third floor.

2005 - July - Family Festival

           It was a wet one this year.  Friday was a complete washout and

           Association President Bill Hopler was more than a little nervous when

           the storm clouds rolled in on Saturday

2005 - June - Car Fire at RT80 & Green Pond

           An apparent fuel leak caused the total loss of a rack body truck which

           belonged to EMC Corp.  The truck caught fire on Green Pond Road

           at the Route 80 interchange.

2005 - May - MVA at Elycroft & West Main

           Approximately 0900hrs, the Rockaway Borough Fire Department

           was dispatched to a scene of a motor vehicle accident involving

           several automobiles.  Rockaway Borough Ambulance 430, Rescue

           414 and Ladder truck 413 responded to the scene.  Mutual Aid from

           Rockaway Township was called in for the MCI.

2005 - May - Fully Involved Structure Fire on Chestnut 

           On May 9, 2005, a fully involved structure fire was called into

           dispatch at approximately 0300 hrs, and upon arrival Rockaway Fire

           Chief Bob Hopler called for mutual aid from Denville and Rockaway

           Township.

2005 - March - Fire at 40 West Main Street Ray & Judy's Book Stop

           On March 9th 2005, the Rockaway Borough Fire Department

           was dispatched to a smoky fire in a combination commercial /

           residential building at 40 West Main Street.
